Free to play games have become few and far in between in terms of new releases and specially unique releases, these days it’s all about out copying one another instead of outsmarting,
Most companies behind free to play games these days are much more interested in copying already established and popular franchises to leach of some of its popularity and scrap a few coins together as they go along, this has created the “look alike” environment we have today, where many free to play mmorpgs and shooters are very similar in both graphics and gameplay mechanics.
As we once had games like Flyff where you could fly pretty much everywhere using hoverboards, wings and such, Mabinogi with its unique combat mechanics that works like something similar to a rock, paper, scissors game, or War Rock, a game that introduced many of us to large scale warfare with everything from tanks and ships to fighter airplanes.
These games tried something few had done before them or none at all, they pushed the boundaries of free to play gaming not only for the profits but also for the entertainment value.

However even with today’s technological advances in gaming compared to the above mentioned games from between 2004 and 2007, we now sorely lack unique games and the few new free to play games that do release worldwide are mostly just another generic shooter or mmorpg that adds pretty much nothing new or exciting to the genre they represent.
